I have created live wedding paintings and live guest illustrations at some amazing wedding venues here in the UK!
Some of these wedding venues really stand out, so I thought it would be nice to do a venue spotlight blog post on a few of them over the next few posts.

This incredible venue is The Dancing Man in Southampton, Hampshire!

A Rustic and Unique Wedding Venue in The Heart of The Old Town in Southampton
I painted here at this unique venue for the wedding of Jade & Sam. The venue was an old wool store built in the 14th century, with cobbled stone walls, large crooked beams and a stunning carved wood spiral staircase leading up to the second floor. With the magical fairy lights and boughs of fauna twisting around the wooden pillars, I really felt like was in a Lord of The Rings style tavern house!

Live Wedding Painting in Watercolour and Live Guest Illustrations
The couple were looking for a detailed small portrait of themselves in watercolour and also have quick mini portraits of their guests for wedding favours. I met the couple outside their ceremony venue at the Westgate in Southampton to take their picture for their wedding painting, and then walked round the corner to my set-up at the Dancing Man to get started. The detailed watercolour painting of the bride and groom took around 3 hours and their guests came over to watch in between food courses and speeches.
After I had finished their live wedding painting, I did a big reveal for the couple and they were overjoyed with their finished piece! I got back to my easel and started on the 4 hours of guest illustrations for their family and friends. Each wedding favour painting takes around 15 minutes each and the guests were welcome to watch me as I painted or go off and have a mingle or a dance while they waited.

The wedding was an amazing success and it was so fun to get the paint the bright pink pops of colour in Jade's outfit and bouquet, which provided an amazing contrast to the beautiful rustic stone of the ancient venue!
