The Way to Make Your Affirmations Actually Work





We all know that affirmations are good for us. They train our minds to think in a positive way, helping us to change, grow and heal.


But have you been saying your affirmations day after day and not seeing results?

It can be extremely frustrating.

In some cases, it can even cause us to stop practising our affirmations altogether.


But don't worry! This guide is here to help and get you well on your way to making your affirmations work for you.








Rule Number 1.

Feel The Affirmation


I've said it before and I'll say it again: energy is everything. Literally everything. Every choice you have ever made has left an energetic footprint. Every thought you'e ever had has effected you energetically. There are energy exchanges happening constantly in our lives. You can't do anything or think anything without an energy exchange taking place.


How does this effect affirmations, you ask?

Well.

Let's use the example of money:

You have recently lost your job and are getting really worried about the money you have left in savings. You would like to feel more open to accepting money and attracting money to you, but your mind keeps bringing you back to the worry of job logistics and when your rent is due. You choose the affirmation "I am open and magnetic to money" to repeat every morning.

However, every time the morning comes around and you say the affirmation, the words are coming out your mouth and you're going through the motions, but you are not actually feeling any of it. If anything, you're actually just feeling the dread, anxiety and worry about money that you felt before.


The words of the affirmation aren't actually important. It's the feeling that they elicit in you. So if you keep saying positive affirmations but without feeling the magical, open-hearted feelings they bring, then unfortunately no positive results will happen.


You need to feel them to get results.





Rule no 2

Opening Up


So how can I allow myself to feel the affirmation in rule 1, you ask? And how can I stop blocking myself and these feelings?


One word: Meditation.


You've got to be in the right state of mind. An open, free and trusting frame of mind within yourself.

The only way you're going to raise your vibrations and feel the emotions that affirmations bring, is if you let your guard down.


Meditation is the perfect way to do this. It opens you up, pulls down your shields and allows you to be connected to the energies around you. I always meditate before I say my affirmations. It doesn't have to be a super long session. It can be just enough to make you feel relaxed and calm. You'll intuitively know how much is right for you. It can be different for everyone.


- If you are following a guided meditation, you can complete the meditation and then speak the affirmations that come to you in your heart silently. Or you could say affirmations that you planned previously, out loud in the mirror, after your meditation is over.


- If you are intuitively meditating with no guide, focus on opening yourself up bit by bit. Scan through your body and allow yourself to trust the processes of your soul and spirit. Dedicate the final quarter of your meditation time to the affirmations. You don't need to open your eyes. You can stay in your meditative zone, and allow the affirmations to arise and to be said in your heart.




Meditation and affirmations are the perfect combo. Doing them consistently honestly has changed my life and the way I view myself. When I did affirmations, cold, without meditations I found them really hard and didn't notice much of a difference in my frame of mind. But when I meditated regularly with affirmation and allowed the feelings attached to the positive affirmations to rise up and allow me to be connected, the difference was amazing!
